Sunglasses change the way we feel

Posted by James on 11th Sep 2014

I was doing some research earlier, for a post I'm writing about sunglasses in the movies. Something that immediately struck me was the fact that so many great movies had characters, who wore sunglasses in order to help movie goers get a handle on their personality.

Allow me to explain.

Sunglasses, image and feelings

It seems that when a character from a movie or TV show wears sunglasses, it not only changes how they look, it also changes the way the actor feels whilst playing the character. Movie directors know this and use it as one of their tools, to get a better performance from the actor. You may have experienced this yourself when you go out for the first time wearing a new pair of sunglasses. Suddenly, you not only see the world differently because of the tint provided by the lenses, it's subtly changes the way you feel.

As Jack Nicholson famously said; "With my sunglasses on, I'm Jack Nicholson. Without them, I'm fat and 60."

[There are some more cool quotes here.]

Movie directors also use sunglasses, when helping the viewer decide the personality of certain characters. By matching the correct sunglasses design, to the way that they want us to feel about one of the characters, they can create the right image with far less dialogue.

With sunglasses having a considerable impact on how we feel and how other people feel about us, it's worth taking a little extra time to make sure you pick a design that's right for you. It may also be worth considering if your current design matches the way you want to feel.

And finally, folks!

Remember, if you are a retailer who either stocks sunglasses or wants to become a stockist, CTS Wholesale Sunglasses are here to help.
